DURING THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES CALEDON PUBLIC LIBRARY WANTS TO HELP!

As per the Town of Caledon’s coordinated regional response to COVID-19, all branches of Caledon Public Library are CLOSED March 14, 2020 through to April 5, 2020. During these uncertain times, Caledon Public Library will do our best to help. We will post up-to-date information on our website and share via social media. We will have staff responding to voicemails, emails and text messages from Monday to Friday, 10am – 5pm. Our Digital Library is also always accessible and is completely free of charge. Below is a list of some of some of the most popular resources:

eBooks and eAudiobooks - CPL offers access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks at no cost to patrons with a valid Caledon Public Library card. You may also want to download Libby, a mobile app presented by Overdrive which allows you to connect with CPL’s digital library collections using your phone or tablet, giving you access to a broad collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and even graphic novels and picture books for the kids. Libby is user-friendly and easy to set up— just download the Libby app in the Apple or Google Play store, enter your library card number, and away you go!

Check out movies and music with Hoopla - Hoopla is a digital media service offered by CPL that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, eBooks, comics, and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet,  phone, and even stream to your TV. 

Kanopy - Kanopy allows you to stream classic cinema, indie films and top documentaries to your computer, phone or tablet.

Get Your Craft On with Creativebug - If you feel the urge to craft or make some art during your downtime, Creativebug is here to help you scratch that creative itch. Not only does Creativebug provide unlimited access to thousands of online art and craft classes, but Creativebug is a virtual community of artists, crafters, and DIYers who share their ideas and inspiration with you. Creativebug offers classes and resources for a wide variety of arts and crafts, as well as other DIY activities such as baking, flower arranging, and home decor.

Learn a new language with Mango - Mango is a language-learning online platform that offer courses in over 70 different languages, from Arabic to Yiddish. Brush up on a new tongue for fun, to expand your ability to communicate across the world. You can even use Mango to learn how to speak Pirate with the whole family!

Digital Magazines - Interested in keeping up with your favorite magazines when you’re under self-quarantine? Flipster and RB Digital allows you to access a wide selection of top magazines online— including such popular magazines as Canadian Living, Men’s Health, Food Network Magazine, and Canadian Gardening— via the device of your choice, allowing you to keep up with articles and events without dealing with deliveries or a frustrating magazine website experience cluttered with pop-ups and ads.

Keep up-to-date with news from around the world with access to Digital Newspapers - Did you know that CPL’s Digital Library offers access to newspapers from across Canada and around the world in many languages including New York Times.

Brush up on your skills with Gale Course - Gale Courses offer a wide range of highly interactive, instructor led courses that you can take entirely online.They can help you keep your work skills sharp during your time away from the office or pick up some valuable new skills. Gale Courses offer classes in business, design, photography, personal development, writing and more.

And NO we haven’t forgotten the kids - CPL offers a Digital Library for Kids too. The Overdrive collection has thousands of children’s eBook and eAudiobook titles. Kids InfoBits is a content-rich, easy-to-use resource featuring age-appropriate, reliable, curriculum-related content. Little Pim is a leading language learning program for kids, with learning videos in 12 languages, a parent/teacher guide, printable lessons and more! With National Geographic Kids, children cans enjoy the complete run of the magazine from 2009-present, as well as books, videos & images. The Tumble Book Library  has over 1100 titles for children grades K-6. It includes animated talking picture books, chapter books, videos, non-fiction titles, playlists, books in languages other than English, such as French and Spanish, graphic novels and math stories.

As you can see, Caledon Public Library’s Digital Library offers a wide variety of services and apps giving you access to a world of online content. Don’t have a library card? We can help too with our Temporary Instant Card. CPL wants to connect you to just the right books or other materials to pass the time or the perfect lesson to help you spend an extended homestay practicing or polishing up your skills. During these uncertain times, Caledon Public Library has got you covered— all for free and from the comfort of your own home.

COVID-19 FAQs

  • If you have library materials checked out, no overdue fines will be applied and due dates will be extended. We request that you pease keep your library materials until we open
  • All current holds will be held until we reopen
  • If you currently have a hotspot checked out, this should continue to work for the duration of the closure

  • Online collections and services are still available. Visit our Digital Library to create a temporary card, borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, newspapers, stream movies or for research information and online courses.
  • All volunteer opportunities and shifts are suspended until after April 5th or until further notice

  • Library staff will be available for support Monday to Friday, 10 am – 5 pm as follows:
