Write to the Troops: Valentines for Vets

Stop by the library and show your support for the men and women of the Canadian Forces by drawing a valentine or designing a postcard to be sent to our troops overseas.

It's Your World - Read It!

It's Your World - Read It! Participate in our interactive display featuring great books from around the world. Have you read a great book that takes place in another province or country? Is the main character Japanese or Australian or African? Help us travel around the world with reading. Add a sticker to the location on the world map at your closest branch to show where you have traveled with books. Check out our website for recommended reads featuring characters and places from around the world.

 

Do-Write Club

This club brings together kids who like to write or would like to practice their writing skills. Do you have great stories going on inside your head and are just itching to share them? Or, do you have a great story to tell and just don't know where to start? Then this is the club for you, where you'll get the opportunity to brainstorm, create, write, draw and share the things that inspire you.

Lego Stop Motion

Lights, camera, action! Work in small groups to create a short stop-motion film starring LEGO mini figures. This program uses Stop Motion App. Devices will be provided or you can bring your own.

Lego Coding

Learn the basics of computer coding with this fun and interactive Lego building activity. Use Lego blocks to learn the binary alphabet and create a Lego maze to navigate using step by step directions. Test out your coding skills using Bits and Bricks: Hour to Code. No experience necessary.

Coding

Learn basic concepts of coding and computer science with fun, game-like tutorials. By the end of the program, you should be able to construct your own mini-computer game.

 

Reading Buddies

This is a registered program for children to spend time each week reading aloud with a trained buddy. Chess Fun

Caledon Public Library is searching for its next Chess Guru and challenges you to test your skills. Here’s your chance to challenge other like-minded players. Participants will be encouraged to play new opponents weekly. Will it be YOU who earns the most victories?

 

Popcorn & A Flick

All Ages | Free drop-in

Escape the cold and settle down on Thursday evenings at the Caledon Public Library for some freshly popped popcorn all the while enjoying a movie our big screen. Adult accompaniment is required. All films screened will be rated G, PG or PG 13. Check our website for an updated list of movie titles. Titles subject to change based on availability.

Reading Rangers

Reading Rangers is a fun activity based program that encourages independent reading through discussion, activities and crafts. Children will explore the world through reading level and hand-on study. Each week participants will choose an age and reading-level appropriate book to practice reading independently at home. Children must be able to read independently. To register, click here.

 

Lego Club

Build the biggest castle or compete in a timed building challenge. Each week we will explore a different structures that can be built using LEGO. Bring your friends and start building! The activities in this program are designed for children ages 5 to 10 years. Children under 5 years are invited to participate with adult accompaniment.
