TD Summer Reading Club

TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. This free program is co-created and delivered by 2,000 public libraries across Canada.  It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories. It’s designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way – the key to building a lifelong love of reading. Sign up at your local branch today and start reading!

For babies, toddlers and preschoolers (ages 4 and under)

Children can start practicing early literacy skills at any age. From repetition to naming colours or letter recognition these are all skills that children can use as they grow into beginner and emergent readers. The TD Summer Reading Club offers fun and interactive activities that can be tailored to your child’s interests and development stages. 

How does this program work?Participate in 12 fun literacy challenges though out the summer months to join in on the fun and collect fantastic incentives. Pick up your TD Summer Reading Club notebook at any branch. Choose 1 literacy challenge and get started. After you have completed 3 challenges you can bring your notebook to the library to receive your first prize and a ballot into the grand prize draw. Prizes can be collected at any time during the program dates. You can collect a maximum of 4 prizes. Collect extra grand prize ballots by repeating challenges using new books or activities.

For school-age readers (Kindergarten to Grade 3):

What fires your spirit, excites your mind and influences your choices? This summer, TD Summer Reading Club helps kids find and explore their passions, and encourages them to share their delight with others along the way.

How does this program work? Pick up your TD Summer Reading Club notebook at any branch and start reading. Record the number of minutes you spend reading each day in your notebook. When you have read 200 minutes you are ready to collect your first prize and a ballot into the grand prize draw. Prizes can be collected at any time during the program dates. You can collect a maximum of 4 prizes (200, 400, 600 and 800 minutes). Collect extra grand prize ballots by reading for an additional 200 minutes.

For tweens (grades 4 to 7):

Don’t get caught up in the summer slide! Feed your passions with books to get inspired. Choose your old favourites or some exciting new reads to fill in each square on the book bingo card for chances to win awesome prizes.  Don’t know what to read? How does this program work? Pick up your TD Summer Reading Club bingo card at any branch or download it here. Choose a book that matches any of the categories on the card and start reading. When you have finished reading 8 books (1 book per square) you are ready to collect your first prize and ballot into the grand prize draw. Prizes can be collected at any time during the program dates. Do you want to collect more prizes and ballots? Pick up a blank bingo card at any branch or download it here. Choose any book that interests you and fill in the squares. Collect your prize when the card is full. You can collect a maximum of 4 prizes. Collect additional grand prizes by filling in additional bingo cards.
