Oh no....you're looking for that special item at Caledon Public Library and it's not in the collection.
Don't worry...CPL is dedicated to providing the best possible service to all its customers and we will search high and low - right across Canada in fact - to find that special item for you.
The Interlibrary Loan Service (ILLO) offers patrons the opportunity to request material which Caledon Public Library does not own from other library systems. Please be sure to check the Caledon Public Library catalogue first.
It should be noted that there are certain items that can never be borrowed from other library systems: reference materials, entire issues of magazines and periodicals, textbooks, school course materials, music and current bestsellers. Libraries will not lend materials that are less than 6 months old (and in some cases, it may be up to one year). It is essential to remember that Caledon Public Library can borrow only what other institutions are willing to lend.
Patrons are limited to 20 Interlibrary requests at any time. This includes requests just placed, requests in process but not yet filled, items received and items already checked out.
Ready to get started?
You can search and order materials through the interlibrary loan service, but first, you need to set up an account (this is called a VDX account in case you need to know!) and obtain a user ID and password. Fill out this form to get started. Please note that this process may take up to 2 business days. Once you have opened an account, you may search for and request library materials 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...or until your night table threatens to collapse under the weight of all your new-found treasures!
