Caledon Public Library is collaborating with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and is hosting the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), a free tax clinic, where CRA volunteers complete tax preparation services for eligible individuals and families with moderate income and simple tax situations.
Here is a guide to see if you’re eligible to participate in the program:
Please complete the online appointment request form to be added to the waitlist to have your 2021 Income Taxes completed by a volunteer. Appointments will start in March and end April 30th, 2022.
Individuals need to do their taxes every year to qualify for many federal, provincial, and municipal programs and services. This is a difficult and sometimes overwhelming task for many people in need. Each year through the CVITP, organizations and volunteers help hundreds of thousands of eligible individuals file their income tax and benefit returns.
The CVITP service is offered free of charge to everyone who meets the eligibility criteria, and includes doing taxes for the current year. Read more about this program’s specifics at this link.
If you have access to a computer and feel comfortable completing your own return, you can visit the CRA website and find a free or pay-what-you-want tax software.
Caledon Public Library and the volunteers will not be responsible for any errors made to submitted income tax forms and cannot guarantee the amount received in tax returns or money owed. Individuals may be audited by the CRA at any time. Volunteers maintain the right to decline completing the tax return if the client does not meet the eligibility requirements.
