We love to celebrate the talents of local residents by hosting contests throughout the year!
CPL's Book to Photo Contest
Books have a way of telling their stories in so many ways, why not through photography. Get creative and capture your interpretation of your favourite book in a photo and enter CPL’s Book to Photo Contest. Remember to visit the library’s catalogue if you don’t have a copy at home.
Contest guidelines:
- 1 entry per person
- Opens: January 11, 2021
- Closes: February 28, 2021
- Copy of book to be included in photo
- Each submission to include a description how the photo tells the story/message of the book (140 words max)
- Age categories: children: 6 to 12 years of age; teen: 13 to 17 years of age; adult: 18+ years of age
- Cash prizes for 1st $100, 2nd $75 and 3rd $50 to be awarded in each of the 3 age categories
- Judging criteria is based on concept originality
- Sponsored by Friends of Caledon Public Library

Teen Short Story Contest
Caledon Public Library celebrates the 18th anniversary of the Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial teen Short Story Contest and the talents of young aspiring writers.
- Maximum 1,500 words
- 2 entries per participant
- Word count must be included in submission(s)
- Typed digital submissions accepted only
This contest was named in memory of Elizabeth Scavetta, a promising, gifted young writer who placed first in the inaugural Caledon Public Library Teen Short Story Contest in 2003. Elizabeth’s winning story can be read here.
