Caledon, ON – Thanks to a generous grant from the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation, Caledon Public Library (CPL) is excited to launch its new Mobile Makerspace this fall, bringing creative technology and maker equipment directly to library branches across Caledon.
“This initiative supported by the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation reflects our commitment to bringing innovative, hands-on learning opportunities directly into the community,” said Colleen Lipp, CEO & Chief Librarian of Caledon Public Library. “The Mobile Makerspace removes barriers to access and invites residents of all ages to explore creativity, technology, and new skills in a welcoming environment.”

The Mobile Makerspace expands access to hands-on learning by allowing residents to explore select maker equipment including a laser engraver, a 3D printer and a Cricut at a library location closer to home. Whether you’re curious about maker technology, looking to start a creative project, or interested in learning a new skill, these pop-up events offer an opportunity to explore, ask questions, and create.
The Mobile Makerspace will visit the following locations:
September 15, 11am – 5pm, at the Alton Branch
October 15, 10am – 12:30pm at the Southfields Village Branch (drop-in only)
October 22, 2-8pm at the Inglewood Branch
November 10, 2-8pm at the Caledon Village Branch
“We are thrilled to see the Mobile Makerspace come to life and travel across Caledon,” said Catherine Arthurs, CPL’s Supervisor, Maker & Emerging Technologies. “These pop-up experiences are designed to spark curiosity and confidence. Whether someone is trying maker tools for the first time or building on existing skills, there is something for everyone to discover.”
Walk-in visits are welcome and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors are encouraged to reserve a time in advance for the best experience.
The Mobile Makerspace is open to participants ages 13 and older, or younger participants when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Some supplies will be available at each pop-up. Participants wishing to bring their own materials are asked to email the Maker team at least 48 hours before their visit to confirm compatibility with the equipment.
